Well, as we all know, the
battery life on the PSP is probably one of the biggest turn offs for people
who are in the market to buy a PSP. However, there are portable charging
devices available for a reasonable price. The Pelican Power Brick is
an awesome add-on if you?re looking to give that extra boost of power to
your PSP. The Pelican Power Brick will add two full charges to your
PSP, or you can just plug it in and play your game while it charges. The
cord goes right into your AC adapter, and it is still very comfortable to
hold and play at the same time, just let the Power Brick sit in your
lap or pocket.
The Pelican Power Brick will run you about twenty dollars,
which isn?t very bad if you travel a lot and don?t have access to an AC
adapter or a car adapter. When you get the Power Brick, it will be
in a plastic case, and comes with the Power Brick, the cord, and a very
small page for instructions. However, it is completely self explanatory.
The cord that plugs into your PSP has two different ends. A smaller plug
that fits into the brick and then a regular looking AC plug that will go
into your PSP.
It will take about four hours to completely charge the Pelican Power
Brick. There is a green light indicator on the side of the brick that
flashes when charging, and is a full color when fully charged. The brick
can be charged with your regular PSP AC adapter by plugging it into the AC
port of the Power Brick, and also you can hook in the cord that comes with
the brick on the other side of the brick and plug the AC end of the cord
into your PSP and charge both at the same time, which of course will take
longer to get a full charge of both of them.
However, there are some flaws. Some of the bricks flat out don?t work. I
had to buy two and return them before I finally got a good one. The first
one couldn?t hold a charge, so I would just plug it in, and the light would
just blink forever. The second one had a bad cord. I fully charged the
brick and plugged it into my PSP and the charging light didn?t come on.
Also, all the bricks do make a little humming noise when they are being
charged or charging the PSP, but it?s not very noticeable if you are
playing a game with the sound on, listening to music, or watching a video.
Overall, I give this product a 6 out of 10. It is a good add on if you are
planning to travel, or just want something in your backpack just in case
you run out of battery and still want some play time. There are some minor
flaws of it, but nothing that you can?t get over.
