Got some aggressions to let loose? Want to shoot some things? Too young to
get Dead to Rights: Reckoning? I?m carrying some good news. Coded Arms is a
game for you. The story of Coded arms is as follows; you are a computer
hacker who infiltrates an abandoned virtual reality system used for army
training. No, it?s not a revenge story which means, it must be Japanese. "A
first person shooter from the Japanese?" you say. Yes, mind boggling but,
Konami can make a good first person shooter.
When you start
off, you are armed with just a pistol in training mode. Your first
objective is to basically go to point A to point B. No enemies, just you
and a gun. Then you enter a portal. The portals range from blue (go to next
level) to red (go back to terminal) and Orange (Leave sector for you have
finished it). The next two levels in training mode have minimal enemies.
You then continue to Sector 1 where the enemies get harder and
have weapons. They range from Aliens, to guards, to robots, to suicidal
robots and suicidal aliens. Sector one is pretty easy and short. Still, it
is fun as hell. Sector two is similar but, it has harder enemies
(obviously) and bosses after each City, Base and Ruins levels. I?ll stop
here so when you play it, you won?t know what to expect after this.
The weapons are great. You can have grenades, several types of
grenade launchers (napalm, Bolt, etc.), rifles, guns that shoot
electricity, pistols and the trusty shotgun. All of them are upgradable.
Also, your health is upgradable throughout the game.
Also,
there are multi-player modes, such as Last Man Standing, Deathmatch and
Keep the Mark. All your weapons that you have earned throughout the single
player game will transfer to multi-player. Multiplayer is most likely the
best part of the game. That doesn?t mean single player isn?t incredibly
fun.
The music is a little annoying. It?s the same song that
plays whenever an enemy is near. It plays until it is dead. Also, the
control scheme but takes some getting used to, but there are different
control modes to choose from.
Coded Arms is addictive, fun
and invigorating when you play with up to 3 of your friends.
